Everyone should use a shower filter when showering because of the chemicals found in tap water. Chlorine, routinely added by water companies to kill bacteria, is a bleaching agent which bonds with and destroys the proteins in the hair and skin. Hair can become dry and sensitive skin itchy and irritated. Did you know? Up to two thirds of our daily exposure to harmful chlorine is through vapour inhalation and skin absorption when showering. The quality of our drinking water can be improved, by filtering chlorine from the tap water using a portable filtered bottle. However, this only addresses a third of the problem. Our Shower Filters offer the answer to complete the solution.

Portable Water Filter Bottles
Monday, March 26th, 2007Here’s an interesting tidbit. Do you actually know how much, if any, chlorine is in your water? Have you actually tested it yourself? Can you taste and smell it?
You can actually buy an over-the-counter drinking water testing kit to test your own water. It’s actually very neat to run a quick test on your water just to see what is in it. There are even bacteria and trace element tests you can run. It is a great activity to do with your kids. We all know that chlorine and other harmful chemicals, even in small doses, over a period of time can really hurt us. It’s time we help our children and our loved ones to become sensitive to these things also. Run a test on your water, then run a test after using your water filter systems. You can test the water after running it through your portable water filter bottles, and you will see a much lower level.
With these portable water filter and other water filter products doing such a great job at a cheap price (free), it’s strange to think that we actually used to drink that stuff that freely comes out of the tap!
Portable Water Purifier – Remove the Lead
Thursday, March 22nd, 2007A portable water purifier that has the ability to absorb and remove lead from drinking water is a must according to the EPA. The EPA warns “Lead is commonly used in household plumbing materials and water service lines.” They go on to say that lead in drinking water can cause adverse health effects, especially in children. Lead concentrations in water actually INCREASE when the water is boiled, so the EPA recommends that parents either filter their water using water purifiers for baby formula and children’s drinks or talk to their doctor about alternatives. A simple water filter bottle can be squeezed into a child’s drink or formula very easily wherever you are. No more wondering what your kids are drinking!
Portable Water Filtration
Wednesday, March 21st, 2007Water Filters come in all shapes and sizes. There are filters for homes, refrigerators, sinks, showers, bottles, and many more. Portable Water Filtration has become very popular in recent years because of the ease of use and portability. The fact that these personal water filters can be carried anywhere in a simple bottle has made them popular all over the world. Filtering ability ranges from chlorine and odor removal to heavy metals like lead and mercury all the way to bacteria and even anthrax! Previously, high quality filtration was only available to businesses or the government. With this type of water filtration available to the general public, more and more people are finding out that personal filters can provide healthy clean water at a price that is much lower than anything else available.
Concerned about bacteria growing in water bottles? You shouldn’t be….
Tuesday, March 20th, 2007If you clean your plastic bottles after each time you use them, like you would for any other drinking container (i.e. drinking glasses, etc), then there will be no need for you to be concerned with bacteria. Plastics are by nature extremely sanitary materials, and plastic bottles are no more likely to grow bacteria than packaging or drinking containers. Bacteria growth occurs in warm, moist environments and can be found in any drinking container (coffee mugs, drinking glasses, serving pitchers, etc…).
To prevent bacteria growth in drinking containers always clean with hot soapy water and dry thoroughly between uses. Bottles like our filtered water bottles and portable water filters are designed with wide openings so that they allow the use of cleaning instruments and easy drying. The sanitation process for Biological Water Filters is a little different. Make sure you read the directions for use of these products.
Shower Filters
Sunday, March 18th, 2007Shower Filters are an amazing product that will change the way you feel in the shower. Chlorine is universally known to be bad for our bodies and is even proven to cause cancer. It is used in every tap water supply system in the US because it is a cheap way to kill bacteria. The problem is that chlorine also kills us slowly. We all also know lead is horrible for our bodies and causes a wide range of problems, especially in children and young adults. When we shower, our pores open and we inhale vapors that contain these dangerous chemicals. We feel clean and healthy, but the reality is we are poisoning our bodies. You have probably noticed the dry skin and hair that chlorine causes, and now it’s time to do something about it. You can feel clean and healthy every time you get out of the shower with a simple shower filter. The filter removes the harmful chlorine and lead from the water allowing us to finally be able to cleanse ourselves without the danger. Every home should have shower filters installed in every shower. It’s a must to keep yourself and your family safe and healthy.
Is your tap water safe to drink?
Friday, March 16th, 2007Have you ever actually tested your tap water? Probably not. Most people don’t realize that their tap water is required to be tested and reported to all homeowners. This requirement is set in place by the EPA, which governs tap water quality in the US. The major problem is the EPA does not make sure the water is actually tested, and does not regulate the tests that are performed. As bad as that sounds, the good news is that most major cities at least test their water and report as required simply to make it seem they are doing a great job.
An excellent example can be found in your own water quality reports. Go to your city’s website or courthouse and see if you can get ahold of the water quality report for your water system. These are done yearly and are reported by June or July of the following year. For example, now you would be looking for the 2005 water report, because the 2006 report is not due our for a few months. This poses the first problem: Why does it take 6 months to release the report?
Now that you have your report, read it thoroughly. You will notice all the wording is very positive and upbeat, and they use phrases like “this does not necessarily present a health hazard.” As you read, you will find little paragraphs buried in the document that paint a less-than-positive picture about your city’s water. For example, most water supplies actually contain the bacteria cryptosporidium. In many cases, this is tested for, found in the water after treatment, and stated in the report. Does that seem safe? Does it make sense to use a Biological Water Filter?
Towards the end of the report, you will find the actual statistical numbers. These may be difficult to read, but if you spend some time calculating the numbers and reading the charts and graphs, you may be surprised about what is actually in your water! They make it difficult hoping most people will give up. It’s time we all wake up and realize our tap water is not always perfectly safe. We all need to do our part to filter our own water and use filtered water bottles whenever we are away from home. Shower Filters are also important to protect our skin and hair. We all have to do our part to stay safe!
Don’t be deceived by crystal clear looking water!
Wednesday, March 14th, 2007When you hold up a glass of water it may look clean and pure but most often it contains contaminants too small to see with the naked eye.The biggest problem with municipal tap water treatment systems in the U.S. is that they were developed prior to World War I. To bring these systems up to modern standards, the U.S. would have to spend in excess of $123 billion over the next 20 years (Yes, that’s Billion with a B). Most other areas around the world are in even worse shape than the U.S.
The biggest problem with municipal tap water treatment systems in the U.S. is that they were developed prior to World War I. To bring these systems up to modern standards, the U.S. would have to spend in excess of $123 billion over the next 20 years (Yes, that’s Billion with a B). Most other areas around the world are in even worse shape than the U.S.In 1995, EPA records reflect some 20% (50 million) of Americans were exposed to substandard drinking water. These figures were based upon exposure to potentially harmful levels of hazardous materials whenever they opened a faucet. In 2003, only 7 years later, the figures doubled to 40% of Americans. These reports are only dealing with above the allowable limit for hazardous contaminants in the water. Almost all water in the U.S. and Worldwide currently contains detectable levels of toxic substances.
Scientists are looking at a variety of treatments to prevent contamination of public drinking water. Despite their best efforts, more than 25% of USA communities provide drinking water that contains excessive levels of biological, chemical or radioactive contaminants.
The best way to protect you and your family is to filter your water from the faucet and shower in your home using home filter systems and shower filters. When you are away from your house, make sure you are using water bottle filters and other portable water filter products for personal water filtration wherever you are. Yes, we have low quality water in the US, according to the EPA, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get clean water at a cheap price if we do something about it.
The disadvantages of Bottled Water include:
Tuesday, March 13th, 2007Cost – Bottled water costs anywhere from $0.25 a gallon for water from a vending machine to $0.50 for generic water jugs you purchase in a store to $1.00 – $1.50 or more for water delivered to your home. If you purchase 10 gallons of bottled water a week, you will spend $260 (at $.50/gal), $520 (at $1.00/gal), $780 (at $1.50/gal), or more every year. Many of us are willing to pay extraordinary prices for the availability and convenience of certain products. That 16 ounce bottle of “designer water” you just purchased at the gas station for $0.69 costs $5.52 per gallon, probably more than twice as much per gallon as your gas! Purchasing one 16 oz bottle per day (at $0.69 per bottle) will cost you $248 per year – that’s for a total of 45 gallons. If you take a minute to fill your own well-cleaned water bottle filter, however, a 16 oz bottle of water would cost perhaps 1 – 2 cents a day, or less than $7.30 per year.
Convenience – Using bottled water requires moving and storing jugs or bottles of water. Water weighs about eight pounds per gallon, or about 40 pounds per five gallon bottle. Failure of a small valve can lead to a big mess, as I discovered after arriving home one evening after a long day at work to find 3 gallons of water soaking into the rug.
Environmental Impact – Producing bottles uses resources, and unless they are reused or recycled, they cause a waste disposal problem. Recycle or reuse the empty bottles, if at all possible.
Healthcare Providers will tell you we need filtered water as much as possible. We all need to be filtering our own water at home and everywhere we go. Home filters and portable water filters will save our pocketbook and our environment. Do your part!
